The bedroom update is my daughter's. She has had this color, pink/blue/green, in her room since she was little! We have never painted it another color, WHY you ask, because when you look at these pictures you can see all the crap pretty things she has collected over the years. AND there was to much to move and paint.
Before:
She moved several states away in June and took quite a bit of things with her. Mind you, she left 3 times as much, lol. Cue, this was mom's turn to clean and redecorate the room. Mind you, I said she could always come home (and wish she would), this would always be her room.
I took me almost 4 months to do this because I have felt guilty doing so. In my defense it needed an update badly, and cleaning.
She loves books and had tons. She took about half and she still has more she left in her room. She also has 3 bookcases full of books downstairs that she didn't have room for. She is living in an apt. with friends and only has her bedroom to furnish, so she had to be selective in what she took.
All the above pictures are the before pics.
You can see the difference. I'm loving it!
The rest of these are the after.
I still left some of her things in the room but was going for a more grown up taste and my taste.
I bought the metal arch from Cedar Hill Farmhouse.
Her artwork from grade school.
A few of the cups she collected.
This was one of the items I had made with a candle stick, a flower plate and a lonely glass lid from Goodwill. She loved it but didn't want to take it with her.
One of the birdhouses I collect.
This is a beautiful record cabinet I found at a thrift store in town. It now holds scrapbook paper. We give this to her one Christmas and she used it for a night stand with the scrapbook paper inside. She likes to make cards and used the paper in school to make things for friends.
I thought these flowers looked good in the room. Makes it a little brighter. They sit inside a metal basket with a crotched baby blanket hanging over the edge.
(They are not real but look fairly close in this one)
Here are her book back where they belong, lol. She can read them when she comes back for Christmas. I do not have curtains up yet!
The sign was one I found at Goodwill a couple of weeks ago and thought it fit. It still is her room after all :)
I bought a mini chandy specifically for this room. Home Depot had a good buy.
I love love love it!
And if you look close, you can see the toilet lid, lol.
My daughter also collects the dishes you see down below. I cannot remember the name but it was made in Germany and this one is a gravy boat with saucer.
I thought the dried roses looked great in it!
An oil lamp from my room.
LOVE
The ladder is from the neighbor who tore down the house next to us. Love it and it was free. I just painted it. More like just dry brushed over the ladder.
Love this light. It came from a thrift store for a couple of dollars. We don't see things like that here so I scooped it up and my daughter wanted it for her room.
I put her poster of the horses back up because I love it. There are no closet doors up because when she was little she wanted them off. As soon as I get to them I will paint them and put them up. For now she left some of her clothes, and the Mister decided to put his work clothes in there. I have started putting up blankets and quilts up above.
I haven't taken down the posters on her door yet, lol.
I'm still trying to talk the Mister into painting all the bedroom doors, wish me luck, he's not going for it.
This is a love poem in french that I stenciled. I love it but it is so light you cannot see it very well.
This is my first time stenciling and so it wasn't perfect but it didn't turn out bad either. Just to light!
I bought my stencil at Cutting Edge Stencils
A beautiful quilt my mother made me.
So there is the tour of my daughter's grown up room! Now if I could just convince her to come back home more often, lol.
Hope you enjoyed it and thanks for stopping by.

Cheryl, what a gorgeous job you have done! I love the new paint color and score on that ladder my friend! I actually like the look of the stencil. Looks a little time worn. I think your daughter is going to love it when she comes home at Christmas!
