Repurposed Belts

When my father in law passed away a few years ago, my husband brought back quite a bit to go through. One of them were belts. I immediately thought of making bracelets out of them.  Repurposing leather belts into bracelets.

I love how beaten up this bracelet looks. I added the white lace but it was such a stark contrast to the leather that I decided to tea stain the lace. It took a couple of times to get the look I was after but I like how it fits in now.

To make this you will need a belt, snaps for leather, something to cut your belt with, lace or other decorations and I used E6000 glue for the lace and a tool to put the snaps on.

It took a while to find the size of the snaps I needed to get through the leather.

Love the look of the rustic leather and lace.

Here are more repurposed leather bracelets to look at here

So tell me what you think!!

  1. Hi Cheryl - I love your bracelets! I also make cuff bracelets from bits and pieces of leftover fabric, ribbons, lace, and vintage buttons. Pop around to see me and take a peek at mine. They are quite different from yours, but I think we both are having fun repurposing stuff and make beautiful NEW stuff! Nina @ Vintage Mama's Cottage

  2. Your bracelet is very pretty. I find it gratifying to make things with repurposed materials like your belt bracelet. I have made a couple in the past with old belts and have also used the leather bracelet blanks from craft stores but they usually have one center snap and are not very stable it seems. The contrast of the leather and lace is very romantic!

    1. Thank you Lynn, I'm so happy you stopped by. It seems like the leather you get in the craft stores are thin and limited, not sure because I haven't used them but it just seems that way.

  6. Those are super cute!! And I'm sure if you'd find something similar to that in the store they'd be twice as much as what you spend on supplies for it!
