Shabby Wings

Once a week my husband comes home and brings his clean work clothes home, which brings with it 10 hangers.
I have been trying to figure out what to do with them besides give them to Goodwill.
So with metal hangers and lace, I made Shabby Wings?
Take a look!

I began by shaping the metal hangers into wings.
I do not have a picture of the process.

I added ruffles to the one above.

Start by adding material to your wings by hot-gluing it to the metal hanger.
The material I used was from some curtains that were ruined.
Trim the material close to the rim of the hanger.

Then fold the material into ruffles and hot glue it to the material in the back as you go.

Add a button and some ribbon.

Aren't they adorable!

And the second one is the same as the first but a little difference in the shape and has ruffles!

So what do you think?
Would you make one?

  1. So sweet!...love the old ruffled curtain...I made my mom hysterical ...when I cut some up for a dress for my Barbie doll...ala, Scarlet Ohara...from the garden party scene. She looked just like your fluffy wings, lol. Thanks for the memory! Sandi

    1. Yes, I hope you do try them! Since the hangers are tough to bend, I would recommend using cloves. They help out tons!

  5. These are really cute. You'd have never known they started out life as coat hangers. Super stylish. I bet there will be a few takers on Etsy, with it almost being Christmas and all.
