I happened to be in the right spot at the right time! I was taking care of a friends dog and saw these 3 closet doors in the dumpster area. They are light, tall and narrow, score.
I decided to paint the first one an off white, Lacy from Behr. It has the paint and primer together.
Saves a step. I didn't sand, just cleaned the board and started painting.
Found the font on PicMonkey called Jellyha Delicious Cake.
Sand a little to get the stressed/shabby look.
Printed out the size of font I wanted and used this method of rubbing a pencil on the back of the image and tracing the font onto the board. Then I painted the letters with an acrylic paint.
This is what I put at the top of the sign! I used the wax paper method and ended up smearing it!
Doesn't look to bad from a distance. After I was all done painting everything, I sealed it.
Here's the finished board.
Since it was a closet door, it had a little screw or thingamajig, lol and I decided to leave it in so I could hand dried flowers off of it.
Here's the before and after.
Now I just have to find room for it somewhere. The place I had it wasn't working. Hopefully soon I can make it fit in. I have two more to go plus I painted the back side. I haven't sealed it yet so I can paint something else on it.
Any ideas??
Let me know what you think.

ReplyDeleteIf I found three door pieces like that...I'd paint and do whatever I wanted, then I'd buy 3 LARGE, decorative hinges and make an awesome screen from them. I am just dying for a pretty screen so I hope I find 3 doors in the garbage somewhere. :)
That is a great idea!! I have a screen already but if I didn't that would be awesome. I hope you find 3 soon! Thanks again for stopping by and your sweet comments.
